MNS is ABB's low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assembly for power distribution and motor control. The MNS design is verified in accordance with the latest IEC standards, IEC 61439 -1/-2 and IEC TR 61641. MNS switchgear assembly is of scalable design, enabling ABB to supply integrated solutions for today's challenging business environment. It is the leading technology combining maintenance-free frame structures and busbars, a fully modular construction and the capability to integrate feeder, motor starter, variable speed drives, power factor compensation etc. and even UPS technologies in safety focused, space saving and project-optimized manner.
A combination of one or more low-voltage switchgear with associated equipment for open- and closed-loop control, measurement, signaling and protection, with all electrical and mechanical connections and structural parts [DIN EN (IEC) 61439-1, 3.1.1].

This is the organization that carried out the original design and the corresponding verification of the controlgear assembly according to the relevant controlgear assembly standard [DIN EN (IEC) 61439-1 (3.10.1)]. As the original manufacturer, Siemens bears the responsibility for design verification of SIVACON S8, SIVACON S4 or ALPHA 3200 controlgear assemblies, as well as for complete and detailed documentation of the design verification.
This is the organization that assumes responsibility for the finished controlgear assembly. This can also be identical with an original manufacturer [DIN EN (IEC) 61439-1 (3.10.2)]. The switchboard system or cubicle manufacturer bears the responsibility for routine verification.
IEC 61439 suggests that the panel builders perform the routine verification for clearances and creepage distances. If the design distances are respected, the panel builder gets the guaranty of the performances to almost all types of over voltages and installation environmental constraints. In addition, according to the IEC 61439-1 section 10.11, the original manufacturer shall make sure the clearances or creepage distances are compliant to the standard even after a short circuit test.
In 2012, the restructuring and revision of the safety requirements for low-voltage switchgear was finalized with publication of the standard, IEC 61439-1:2012. The preceding standard, IEC 60439-1 will be replaced by IEC 61439-1:2012. The former Standard IEC 60349 is valid until Sept. 2014. After this specified date, the use of IEC 61439 is mandatory (for all new designed switchgear and control gear assemblies) the planning and documentation must be executed in accordance with IEC 61439-1:2012 and its parts.
The rated current of the switchgear and control gear assembly, InA, is the total current that the main busbar can distribute in the respective installation of the assembly, without exceeding the temperature limit values mentioned in IEC 61439-1 section 9.2!
The rated current of an electric circuit is the value of the current that can be carried by this electric circuit under standard operating conditions when it is operated alone. The assembly must be capable of carrying this current without exceding the max. temperature limits of the individual components specified in IEC 61439-1 section 9.2.
* MENNEKES designs the size of the Neutral conductor accordingly to the max. allowed current for the phases. For special operating conditions (see IEC 61439, section 7.2 and IEC 61439-1 supplement 1, section 13.5) which relate to the ratio of neutral conductor to outer conductor (alternating current consumption with very low and different cosφ or excessive harmonics in the supply voltage or load current) can lead to a different size relation between neutral conductor to external conductor. This must be announced by the user.
Test instrument for testing the effectiveness of protective measures in electrical installations per IEC 60364-6, machines and systems per IEC 60204-1, low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies per DIN EN 61439-1, PV systems per DIN EN 62446-1 and electric charging stations per DIN EN 61851-1.
The PROFITEST PRIME AC is a test instrument for testing the effectiveness of protective measures in electrical installations per IEC 60364-6, machines and systems per IEC 60204-1, low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies per IEC 61439-1, PV systems per DIN EN 62446-1 and electric charging stations per DIN EN 61851-1.
The PROFITEST PRIME AC makes your investment decision easy because standards-compliant testing can be conducted on electrical installations per IEC 60364-6, on machines and systems per IEC 60204-1, on low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies per IEC 61439-1, on PV systems per DIN EN 62446-1 and on electric charging stations per DIN EN 61851-1 with the accessories which are perfectly matched to the requirements.
The integration of the TemperatureCalcualtion in the ToolSystem allows you the directly transfer of your project data from the configurators and the detailed engineering of ProPlan for the quick generation of standardized proofs for heating in your planned switchgear according to DIN EN 61439-1.
With DIN EN 61439-1 (IEC 61439) coming into force, additional, elaborate duties to provide evidence have come for construction of a switchgear. Beside part and design verifications a proof for the warming is demanded by the switchgear manufacturer in certain cases.
